Volunteers wanted

To make Future Without War a successful event we need volunteers. Several volunteers are needed. Tasks for the volunteers include publicity, secretarial work and the organization around the different locations. You can find some jobs here, more jobs can and will be made.
We offer (when needed) allowance (5 euro an hour), an own working place in the center of Utrecht, a bike for local transport, enthusiastic and nice colleagues and you will get an enriching experience.

Profile volunteer employee secretariat (F/M/X) average 8 hours/week

Tasks

SECRETARIAT

  • Answering e-mails and telephone-calls
  • Forward incoming requests to the responsible person within Future Without War
  • Register participants and having overview
  • Main contact person for secretariat/info point during the manifestation. together with others
  • Attending core-group meetings
  • Keeping overview costs secretariat

SIDE-LOGISTICS

  • Arranging ‘name-badges’ for participants
  • Arranging T-shirts for pax
  • Providing map-copies Utrecht with venues and possible sleeping-places
  • Provide list of WiFi-passwords for locations etc
  • Establishing and maintaining contacts with venues and their contact persons

Working hours: 8 hours, preferably two steady mornings or afternoons in the week (in consultation), from less to gradually more hours close to the event, full available from 7-13th of September

Work-location: Utrecht, the Netherlands

Support: volunteer-coordinator

Reports to: the core-group

Competences

ESSENTIAL

  • Proficient skills in Dutch and English language
  • Good verbal and written communication-skills
  • Ability to work accurately
  • Ability to work independently, as well as to work in a team
  • Computer-skills: word processor, spreadsheet and/or database
  • ‘hands on’- mentality
  • Affinity with the aims of Future Without War

DESIRABLE

  • Previous experience in NGO’s

Profile volunteer employee program logistics (F/M/X) average 6-8 hours/week

Tasks

VENUES (main task)

  • Establishing and maintaining contacts with venues and their contact persons
  • Make agreements (consulting our treasurer) about renting venues and use of their spaces
  • Make agreements with venues about additional tools for the program (beamer, light, interactive setting of workshop-spaces, sound, live-streaming
  • Attending the program-meeting of Flows
  • Involve the venues to take up an active role in programming and planning the event

ACCOMMODATION (additional task)

  • Establishing contacts with possible hostels and other sleeping-places
  • Arranging a list of sleeping-place in order to provide free accommodation for workshop-facilitators and organizers and accommodation for participants (to be paid by them)
  • In contact with secretariat to match requests for accommodation and hostels

FOOD (additional task)

  • To arrange vegetarian/vegan breakfast breakfast, lunch for all involved
  • To support the organization of the Food not Bombs –lunch at Sunday

Working hours: average 6-8 hours, preferably two steady mornings or afternoons in the week (in consultation), full available from 8-12th of September

  • Experience in/knowledge of the peace-movement (for programming reasons)

Profile voluntary employee publicity and recruitment (M/F/X) average 8 hours/week

Tasks

RECRUITMENT

  • To create and write diverse materials for recruitment of participants
  • To create and take care of content for the website (in collaboration with core-group)
  • To establish, manage and expand social media for the purpose of the manifestation
  • To address (peace) organizations and magazines
  • Networking with institutions, organizations and media

PUBLICITY

  • Co-composing of a publicity-plan
  • To (pre) announce the manifestation to the public in broadest sense
  • Writing and sending press-releases before, during and after the manifestation
  • Possible role as spokes-person for press
  • To support video-makers

ORGANIZATION

  • To coordinate the publicity-group*
  • To attend the core-group meetings
  • Regular consultation with the program-group

(*) Ideally the publicity-volunteer will be part of a publicity-team.
